Description
Two Young Girls at the Piano by Pierre-Auguste Renoir 1892
In late 1891, Renoir was commissioned by the French government to execute a painting for a new contemporary art museum in Paris (the Musee du Luxembourg). The subject was bourgeois domestic life.
Aware of the intense scrutiny the painting would be given at the hands of the public, Renoir executed five similar canvases of girls playing the piano to help refine the composition. This particular painting is thought to be the finest of the five similar paintings.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. If you look closely, you can see the individual brushstrokes in the painting. It is not a copy from the internet. With the exceptional photography and exacting standards of color, this guarantees that you get the finest quality possible.
The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
