Description
Boy in a Red Vest by Paul Cezanne
Cezanne had difficulty using models in his paintings. Shy and introverted, he was always challenged when it came to interacting with strangers. It probably also did not help that he would ask his models to sit still for hours at a time without moving a muscle.
Most of Cezanne's models were people he knew: family, neighbours or people who worked on his father's estate.
The Boy in the Red Vest however was an exception. The boy in question was Michelangelo di Rosa, a melancholic young Italian who was a professional sitter in Paris.
What is interesting about this painting is how Cezanne managed to use the bright red vest (bright red being a colour he rarely used) to stitch the entire image together. Even the dark V-shaped drape in the background draws the eye to the vest.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
