Description
The (Male) Bather by Paul Cezanne
This painting is the one time when Cezanne was known to have copied a photograph - in this case a studio photo of a posing male model.
Cezanne painted several male bather images. Usually the models are full of vigorous and youth. This bather, however, does not meet the idealized image. The man is physically ungraceful and looks somewhat remote.
Cezanne's brushwork in this painting is unconventional even by his own unconventional standard. Everything in this image appears mismatched on purpose. Even the man's nipples are mismatched.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
