Description
The Welcome Man by Emily Carr
Emily Carr painted this image in 1913. Having recently returned from Europe where she was influenced by the Fauvism art movement (in particular strong colors and geometric forms). Carr adopted some of those concepts into this painting. However, to match the west coast rain forest look, she used a more muted palette.
This painting shows the large potlatch figure at the entrance to the village of Mimkwamlis (near Alert Bay on the coast of British Columbia).
The figure is situated on the beach overlooking the water at sunset.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
