Description
Portrait of a Woman in Grey by Edgar Degas
This portrait represents something of a mystery to Degas scholars. Degas never sold this painting. It was found in his studio at the time of his death. To compound the enigma, he was wealthy enough that he did not have to execute commissioned portraits. His few portraits were of friends and family.
Although this woman has never been identified, she was clearly important to Degas by the sympathetic way he painted her. Smiling and relaxed, she looks like she is just about to stand.
This is a remarkable Degas portrait.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. It is not a copy from the internet. With the exceptional photography and exacting standards of color, this guarantees that you get the finest quality possible.
The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
