Description
Noon: Rest from Work by Vincent Van Gogh
A strong influence throughout Van Gogh's life was the French painter Jean-Francois Millet, who specialized in painting peasant farmers and others who worked outdoors. This was a copy of a work by Millet that Van Gogh made while recuperating at the asylum at Saint-Remy in 1890. During this period, Van Gogh struggled to find inspiration from external sources.
In this painting, Van Gogh shows a man and a woman having a siesta against a haystack. Sickles for cutting the hay can be seen on the right.
The strong yellows of the hay are carefully offset by the brilliant blue sky and the blue cloths of the farm workers.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
