Young Pines and Old Maple by Emily Carr

This is one of Carr's most colorful paintings. It was done at a time in her career when she was finally receiving critical acclaim for her work.

The light texture of the brushstrokes gives this image an almost watercolor look. Unusual for Carr was her use of strong purples and violets to represent the sky.

This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. If you look closely, you can see the individual brushstrokes in the painting.
