Krafla is a volcanic caldera in northern Iceland. The caldera sits atop the mid-Atlantic ridge that separates the North American continent from the European continent. The region often gets extraordinary weather patterns.
In this dramatic panoramic image, a rainstorm approaches the edge of the Krafla caldera. Shafts of light break through the dense raincloud.
