These are the famous Icelandic black sand dunes located at Vestrahorn on the eastern shores of Iceland.
The black sand is volcanic, which is what gives the sand its unique dark texture. The sand combined with the strong wind off the North Atlantic Ocean and the bleached grass gives this image a unique look.
This is one of six images in a series of the black sand dunes at Vestrahorn.
This incredible black and white photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
