This is a panoramic view of the plains at Solheimasandur, Iceland. In the foreground is the famous US military plane wreck. In the background is Cape Dyrholaey near the town of Vik.

Located on a barren plain on the south coast of Iceland, this wreck is a US Navy DC-3 that made an emergency landing on the volcanic black sand plain in 1973.

The wreck is amazingly well preserved considering that it has been exposed for over 45 years to the harsh Icelandic winters.

This black and white photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The superb quality and high resolution of the camera guarantees that you get the the highest image quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
