Iceland White Horse by Miles Whittingham

I came across this semi-wild white horse in the western region of Iceland.

Horses came to Iceland with the first settlers around 900 AD. Soon after, the importation of additional horses was banned.

Over the centuries, the original stocky Scandinavian horse evolved into the unique Icelandic breed.

Icelandic horses are well suited to the harsh arctic winters.

This photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The superb quality and high resolution of the camera guarantees that you get the the highest image quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
