Description
Arnardrangur Rock by Miles Whittingham
Arnardrangur is the Viking name of the rock outcropping featured prominently in the middle of this image.
Located in south Iceland not far from the town of Vik, Arnardrangur is what is known as a sea stack. Icelandic lore suggests the rock is a petrified troll.
The name Arnardrangur means "eagle rock". In past centuries, it was a popular nesting site for the Icelandic sea eagle, which was once hunted close to extinction.
This timed exposure shows the sea flowing across the black lava sand and around Arnardrangur rock, giving the image a peaceful and timeless look.
This incredible black and white photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The superb quality and high resolution of the camera guarantees that you get the the highest possible image quality. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
