These are the horse stables at the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a very old structure. It was originally completed in 1643 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife. Most people think of the Taj Mahal as a single building, but in fact it is a large complex of multiple buildings spread over 42 acres of land, including these horse stables.
During the period of time when the British ruled India, apparently these horse stables were converted into stalls for vendors to sell their wares. Now these stables are unused. Few visitors who visit the Taj Mahal wander around the property and even fewer come across these horse stables.
At certain times of the day, the sunlight plays on the stone walls of the doors of these horse stables and casts them in a beautiful orange light. The effect is amazing.
