Description
Woman Tying Her Shoes by Auguste Renoir
This is one of Renoir's last paintings done in 1918, the year before he died. Renoir was 77 at the time and he lived in the south of France.
In his later years, Renoir (by then a wealthy and well established artist) became disillusioned with the Parisian art scene (and the ravages of World War I) and stayed close to home in his studio on the Mediterranean coast. During this time, he focussed on his first love of painting, which was to depict idealized images of beautiful and sensual women.
Often in his later paintings, the women were either bathing or dressing themselves. In this image, a half-dressed woman is leaning over provocatively tying her shoes.
Notice how beautifully Renoir has mastered colour in this image. The woman positively shines with a lightness of being while wrapped in a multitude of rich colours.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
