Description
Woman at a Window by Edgar Degas
This is a painting of a woman seated by a window against the light. The woman looks serene.
In addition to being a painter, Degas was also a sculptor and a photographer. He often experimented with various techniques. In this painting, he drained the paint of its oil and then further thinned the paint with turpentine. The idea was to give an effect similar to but not the same as watercolour.
Notice how the woman's face is in silhouette, but the hands are well lit. Her serene mood is defined by her hands. Extraordinary.
This image of the painting was created by photographing the original picture with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
