Iceland has many spectacular natural wonders. This valley, however, is in a league of its own. Known to the locals as the Valley of Tears, this hidden valley does not appear on any map.

The Valley of Tears is located within the high plains interior of Iceland. The only way to access it is by traveling across a gale force wind-swept volcanic plain devoid of water and life. Suddenly, out of nowhere appears this valley.

The water collected from the volcanic plain literally flow out of subterranean caves which come out of the canyon walls. The water plus the wind protection provided by the valley help sustain life within the valley. The result is almost out of this world.

This photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The superb quality and high resolution of the camera guarantees that you get the the highest possible image quality. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
