Description
The Stone Bridge in Rouen by Camille Pissarro
Rouen is a city in Normandy in northern France. Pissarro likened the beauty of the city to Venice, Italy which he also admired.
Rouen was a favourite topic of both Pissarro and his friend and fellow Impressionist painter Claude Monet. In this view, which Pissarro painted from his hotel window, he captures the busy wharves along the Seine River that runs through the middle of the city. He also painted one of the beautiful stone bridges in the city.
As a painter of light, Pissarro chose a cloudy day for this painting to help bring out some of the subtle textures of the city. For example, notice the bustle of the wharves and the cathedral on the hill in the background. The end result is a gorgeous view.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
