Description
**Watermark Not on Final Print**
Henri Rousseau, unlike most of the other famous painters of his era, was not rich. He worked as a customs agent and painted in his spare time. He is considered to be a self-taught genius.
Rousseau never left Paris. He painted scenes like this by visiting botanical gardens in Paris (Jardin des Plantes) and from his own imagination.
In this painting, Rousseau sought to explain a reclining female nude lying on a sofa in the middle of the jungle as a dream. He said the woman was "listening to the sounds from the instrument of the enchanter" while being surrounded by lions, an elephant, monkeys and other animals.
Notice how the one lion is staring directly at the viewer.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. It is not a copy from the internet. With the exceptional photography and exacting standards of color, this guarantees that you get the finest quality possible.
The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
