Description
The Church at Auvers-sur-Oise by Vincent Van Gogh
Van Gogh painted this church at Auvers in the summer of 1890. The deep ultramarine of the sky was typical of Van Gogh's skies that he painted in the south of France.
Van Gogh, who was well versed in architectural styles, uses heavy dark lines to set the tone of a towering church composed on blocks and pyramids set against the gently waving field of nature.
Notice the small female figure in country dress on the left side of the church.
The strong graphic qualities of this painting make it one of the most popular Van Gogh images. It is also one of the last images he painted before Van Gogh committed suicide.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
