Description
The Ballet Class by Edgar Degas
This painting by Degas shows ballet dancers being instructed by ballet master Jules Perrot. It was painted at the old Paris Opera House.
Degas was less interested in the stage performance and more interested in the training and rehearsals. In this painting, Degas shows the end of the rehearsal.
Notice how the instructor's staff serves as a focal point around which the dancers congregate (the staff was used to beat time against the wooden floor during the practice). Notice also how Degas captures the exhausted movements and slight motions of the dancers at the end of their training session.
The slight elevated viewpoint also helps to add to the dynamic tension of the image.
This image was created with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
