Description
Spring Flood by Miles Whittingham
This image was taken at Britannia Beach in Ottawa during a spring flood several years ago. It is a timed exposure in black and white. This gives the water a mirrored appearance and the trees have a ghosted look to them.
This flood occurred in the spring when a combination of spring rains and a melting snowpack cumulatively overwhelmed the banks of the Ottawa river at Britannia Beach, a popular spot in Ottawa.
Although floods can cause a great deal of damage, they also bring renewal and enrichment to the soil. The slow movement of the water can also add tranquility to a scene, which is what this image captures.
This image was taken with a very high definition medium-format Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
