Pool in the Desert by Frederic Remington 1908

This painting was inspired by Remington's travels through the New Mexico and Arizona Territories in 1907 and 1908.

It shows a group of mounted Navajos approaching a desert waterhole through the tall grass.

Remington used a warm palette and strong brushstrokes to intensify the image.

This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. If you look closely, you can see the individual brushstrokes in the painting.
