Midtown Manhattan at Night by Miles Whittingham
This is a beautiful and rare panoramic night view of midtown Manhattan at night. It was taken at the corner of 54th and Avenue of the Americas.
This image captures many of the iconic buildings in New York City, including the Empire State Building, which is the building with the green pointed roof on the right hand side of the image. Behind the Empire State Building is the Freedom Tower in downtown Manhattan.
Also visible is just to the left of the Empire State Building is the Rockefeller building (visible in purple). The night this image was taken, the Rockefeller Building was lit up with search lights. It gives the building an interesting glow.
The street on the right hand side of the image is Avenue of the Americas (also known as Sixth Avenue). The neon lights visible at street level is the sign from the Radio City Music Hall.
Directly in the middle of the image is a building with a sign that says "FT". This is the Financial Times newspaper building. If you look closely in the distance behind the FT building you can also see the Metropolitan Life building and the top of the spire of the Chrysler building. You can also see the top of St Patrick's Cathedral. Even the Trump Tower is visible.
The street on the left hand side of the image is 54th Avenue. If you follow the line of the street you can see in the distance the purple building with the slopped roof. This is the Citigroup building, also one of the most famous architectural buildings in Manhattan.
This image is a rare view of Manhattan at night. I had to get special permission to go on the roof of the building to capture this image.
