Description
Festival at L'Hermitage by Camille Pissarro
L'Hermitage was the name of a group of houses in the village of Pontoise, France. The village is located about 20 miles outside of Paris. Pontoise has existed for over 2,000 years and is known for its medieval lanes, convents and ancient churches.
Pissarro moved to Pontoise sometime around 1866. He painted this scene in 1876. It shows finely dressed figures from Paris walking around the local fall fair.
Notice how Pissarro's choice of colour and bold brush strokes help evoke the sense of a fall fair. The viewer can almost feel like they are at the fair.
This image of the painting was created by photographing the original picture with a high-definition Leica camera. This guarantees that you get the finest quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of colour.
