Description
Dancers Practicing at the Barre by Edgar Degas
Degas is best known for his paintings of ballet dancers. This painting was shown at the 1877 Impressionist Exhibition. It was sold in 1912 for $95,700 - a record sum in those days for a work by a living artist.
The watering can on the wooden floor was once a staple at ballet studios. It was used to keep the dust down and the wooden floor wet when the ballerinas practised.
In this painting, the watering can also serves as a visual pun. It mimics the shape of the dancer on the right.
This image was created by photographing the original painting with a professional high-definition Leica camera. With the exceptional photography and exacting standards of color, this guarantees that you get the finest quality possible.
The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
