Description
Abandoned Icelandic Farm by Miles Whittingham
This is a view of an abandoned Icelandic farm. It is rare to come across such buildings these days. This type of building has not been constructed in Iceland for well over 100 years.
These buildings are called turf houses because the house is partially buried in the ground and it has a turf grass roof. This style of construction is very old and goes back a thousand years to the days of the Vikings.
Today, these turf houses are rare even in Iceland. Most are found in outdoor museums.
This beautiful photograph was taken with a professional Leica medium format camera. The superb quality and high resolution of the camera guarantees that you get the the highest image quality possible. The watermark in the lower right hand corner of the picture does not appear on the final print.
Prints are produced on acid-free paper using archival inks to guarantee they last a lifetime without fading or loss of contrast, colour or tone.
If you chose to order a framed print, the framing is done to museum quality with archival matting. The frame is wired and comes with a wall hook. It is ready to hang on the wall.
